Analysis Of Other Music Videos That Has Influenced Me

My main personal influences came from many artists such as; Rita Ora, Jess Glynne, Ellie Goulding, Charlie XCX and Katy B although Katy B was one of my group member's choice. These Artists are a mixture of Dubstep and Hip-Pop music and this is because myself and my group did not know which genre to choose.

Rita Ora was my biggest inspiration for many reasons including; style, genre, brand image etc. Her style is an inspirational aspect because she dresses very casual but classy, sexy at the same time so, I will take this influence and apply it to my music video as well. I love how she presents her signature red lipstick for sexy and classy purposes. The song is one of my best songs in general and that's why I was genuinely inspired by this music video. I thought that we could perhaps film in similar locations but I have made up my mind to the fact that this is a well known music video and I certainly wouldn't want people thinking that we tried to 'copy'. For these purposes, we have decided that we shouldn't go with this video. 

Because we decided not to do the hip-hop genre, we decided to take inspirations from the Dub-step genre and Jess Glynne was one of our inspirations. My whole group had a look at the music video and examined it. My group believed we should rule this video out of our list because again, this is a popular video amongst the Dub Step fans and that we needed a music video that we could not 'copy' in any way. In this music video, parks and open green areas are mainly used to film which was the reason why it inspired my thinking that we could do the same, but this was obviously wrong because our videos would have been likely to look similar. We also decided that her deep voice wouldn't suit my appearance in any way. 

Ellie Goulding was also an inspiration however, we had to instantly remove her from our potential song list as we didn't agree that her childish voice will unfortunately not suit me despite the fact that she's a well known artist. Another reason why we decided not to do Goulding is because the locations of the music video are hard to find such as; the camping, fire scene although we could have not used the same locations anyway.  This isn't the most suitable video to film. 

We finally made up our minds and decided that Katy B is the best artist to be inspired by. She is known but she isn't as known as the other artists. Especially this video will be the best to work with because the main locations used are locations like clubs and stage where she's in her own concert, performing. This video will differ from our video significantly through the locations, clothing (she wears casual clothing, we will switch it up by dressing classy and girly), hairstyles and make-up. 

Before deciding on the Katy B song, I wanted my group to think about this song by Charlie XCX because the story behind it was amazing and inspirational. Throughout the song, we had seen a story of a blind woman and a man etc. But then we realised that this video would not be suitable, we should choose some thing much more suitable in terms of popularity and difficulty and so that's why we picked Katy B On A Mission.
